First Fully Electric Garbage Truck: FM Low Entry

Volvo's first fully electric truck has caught attention with its versatile design. The release date and technical specifications have been announced. It's been revealed that the new model will be launched in Europe, South Korea, and also in Turkey.

The Volvo FM Low Entry represents a revolutionary step forward for the Swedish company and marks their first dedicated platform for electric vehicles in the truck segment. The platform will be available for sale in major markets like Europe, Turkey, and South Korea, serving various tasks from waste collection to goods distribution and construction site operations. The vehicle was introduced in launch visuals with a garbage truck version. However, the FM Low Entry can be configured to meet all needs with options like 4X2, 6X2, 6X4, 8X2, and 8X4 axle configurations. It also offers single and double cab options. Buyers can choose models with one to four seats and opt for the extended high cab, which adapts the truck to various operational needs and preferences. It was emphasized that the truck can be used not only in transportation but also in construction sites and even for garbage collection. Additionally, it is equipped with Volvo's new advanced camera monitoring system to provide drivers with the best possible view around the truck. Most importantly, it offers smooth and easy driving with zero exhaust pipe emissions, capable of handling heavy-duty transport operations.

Volvo's first FM Low Entry electric truck is equipped with a 360 kWh battery pack and a 489 horsepower motor. This battery pack provides a range of up to 200 km for the vehicle. While 200 km may seem short for long-distance transport, it is sufficient for tasks such as urban excavation, garbage collection, municipal works, etc. The truck can operate between 19 to 32 tons. Like all vehicles participating in the electrification campaign, it also features significant technological innovations. Expectations are high for this model, planned to be released in the first quarter of 2024. Volvo aims to familiarize consumers with the electrification movement, aiming for half of all cars sold by 2030 to be electric.
