Artificial Intelligence Support for Audi's Post-2021 Cars: ChatGPT Integration

For the new Audi Q6 e-tron and future models with the E3 1.2 electronic architecture, Audi will use ChatGPT via Cerence Chat Pro as an extension of Audi's assistant. Starting with the 2021 model year, ChatGPT, which will be equipped with MIB 3, will significantly enhance the voice control experience, allowing drivers to use advanced voice commands to operate infotainment, navigation and air conditioning systems and ask general information questions.

According to Audi, OpenAI's advanced language model ChatGPT will be integrated into around two million cars manufactured from 2021 onwards and equipped with a third-generation modular infotainment system (MIB 3). This integration will enable drivers to interact with their cars using natural language. Audi will use Microsoft Azure OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its existing assistant system, giving drivers access to AI-based information. However, it is important to note that there is no absolute guarantee of the accuracy of the responses.

Marcus Keith, Vice President of Audi Interior, Multimedia and Connectivity Development, states that this integration aims to combine the strengths of both applications to offer Audi cars a best-in-class cabin experience. ChatGPT will not only control functions by voice, but also provide smarter and safer access to information for both drivers and passengers.

- Audi ChatGPT Support Coming

This innovation will be available not only in Audi cars, but also in other cars under the Volkswagen umbrella. The ChatGPT integration aims to process voice commands more effectively by focusing on a natural language model that can easily understand drivers' requests. In the system developed by Audi, the in-car assistant uses ChatGPT directly to respond to user queries and fulfill requests.

For example, drivers can use voice commands to operate infotainment, navigation and air conditioning systems. When Audi's assistant has difficulty understanding more complex questions from users, ChatGPT steps in to help. In this way, drivers can not only get detailed information about their cars features, but can also ask ChatGPT general information questions.

- Security and User Experience

Audi aims to increase driving safety with this integration. Similar to Apple's Siri and ChatGPT integration, the ability to request information using natural language allows drivers to access information without taking their eyes off the road. This enables the control of in-car systems without distractions while driving. Audi's new technology will be deployed securely through the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, enabling secure processing of drivers' and passengers' data. ChatGPT integration will be available from July on approximately two million Audis produced after 2021. This new feature will provide a more interactive and intelligent experience for drivers and passengers with their cars.

Audi prioritizes user privacy by ensuring that ChatGPT does not access car data and only responds to user instructions. All operations will be carried out through the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, guaranteeing secure data processing. This feature provides significant peace of mind for drivers and passengers, especially those who are concerned about security and privacy.

In summary, Audi's ChatGPT integration has the potential to create a significant change in in-car infotainment systems. Thanks to this innovation, drivers and passengers will have a safer, more enjoyable and more efficient driving experience. Audi aims to strengthen its leadership in the automotive industry with this technology.
